US Blows Up Silent Iranian Mine Boats, Warns Of ‘Violent’ Slap Fight

KEY POINTS

  • The U.S. targeted and destroyed ten Iranian naval vessels on Tuesday over fears that Iran planned to deploy mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
  • President Trump warned on Truth Social of unprecedented military consequences if Iran places mines, while clarifying no mines have currently been reported.
  • CNN reported Iran had started minor mine-laying, prompting the U.S. to preemptively analyze and respond using drug-trafficker missile technology.

On a Tuesday packed with explosive diplomacy, the U.S. military decided ten Iranian naval vessels suspected of mine-laying duties were just too chill to keep around and blew them up. President Trump took to Truth Social (because of course he did) threatening Iran with military consequences ‘never seen before’ if they dare throw mines into the Strait of Hormuz, where 20% of the world's oil takes its commute. The U.S. declared this preemptive strike based on intelligence saying Iran was gearing up to play Battleship for real. Trump also boasted they're using drug-trafficker tech to ‘quickly and violently’ deal with any suspicious boat targeting the Strait—proof the war on drugs now includes a side of maritime mine-clearing. CNN even chimed in, reporting Iran had just begun mild mine-laying, but the U.S. say they acted before it got serious. It’s basically ‘shoot first, ask if you mined later,’ with 10 Iranian vessels down and ‘more to follow.’
