Trump’s Signature Hits Cash, Because Who Needs Tradition When You’re 250?

KEY POINTS
- •The Treasury Department announced it will feature President Trump's signature on all new paper currency beginning in June 2026.
- •Cash use accounts for just 14% of payments, with most users preferring cards despite occasional cash fallback.
- •In November 2025, the U.S. Mint struck the last circulating penny after Trump ordered penny production stopped.
In a bold move that, like a viral TikTok challenge, no one asked for, Treasury plans to slap Donald Trump’s signature on all new U.S. paper currency starting in 2026, timed with America’s 250th anniversary. This breaks a 165-year tradition because apparently signatures from obscure Treasury secretaries weren't flashy enough. Meanwhile, cash, used in only 14% of payments and mostly as backup to card swipes, will carry Trump’s autograph just as pennies quietly exit the stage after the last was minted in November 2025 by order of Trump himself. Bonus: a flashier 24-karat gold commemorative coin with Trump’s face is coming too, because subtlety is overrated.
