HBO just announced it’s conjuring a Baldur’s Gate TV show to continue Larian Studios’ critically acclaimed yet apparently cliffhanger-addicted Baldur’s Gate 3. That’s right, the same RPG where you spend hours debating which fantasy lizard-tooth necklace is best is getting a fancy sequel in live-action format—because what the world needs more of is awkward tavern dialogues on screen. The show’s mega-hat-holder Craig Mazin, aka the guy behind The Last Of Us, is back to simultaneously create, write, executive produce, and run the showrunner hamster wheel. He promises fan-favorite characters will return (Andrew, please let them keep the voices), but also new protagonists because why not cram every magical D&D subplot ever created? HBO’s schedule is still as vague as a mysterious quest prompt, but rest assured, the entire Baldur’s Gate 3 cast will be contacted for participation, likely being asked if they’d fancy acting beyond 'roll a d20'.
