KEY POINTS
- â˘In 2025, women made up only 26% of new hires for AI jobs in the US, while men claimed the rest.
- â˘The highest-paying technical role called 'member of technical staff' was dominated by men at 82% with median pay at $223,000.
- â˘Data annotator roles paid $51,000 and showed gender parity at roughly 50/50, though these jobs are less lucrative and influential.
According to new LinkedIn data leaked on a Tuesday morning in 2026, women secured just 26% of the ultra-coveted AI roles in the US last year, making them the unofficial data annotators to menâs $223,000-paid âmember of technical staffâ roles. While 82% of these tech wizard jobs went to dudes who likely code in their sleep, women enjoyed a pleasant 50/50 split in the $51K data annotator positions â basically the AI industry's version of honey-do lists. Sarah Steinberg, LinkedInâs global public policy woke warrior, confirmed women are invited to the party but forced to stand near the snacks, away from the leadership table.
