Japan Airlines Flight 123 was on a routine journey to Osaka until it tragically 'crashed in the mountains north of Tokyo on Aug. 12, 1985,' killing 520 passengers and crew. In aviation's worst nightmare, what was lifted with hope 'ended' in devastation—twice the number of victims than 9/11 hijackers. If tragedy had a dark punchline, this crash would deliver it with a smirk.
