23 States Say 'No Creepy Face Robots' Before Congress Decides

While Congress is busy playing 'let's pretend' with facial recognition tech, nearly two dozen states have taken it upon themselves to regulate how your own face, eyes, and voice data get harvested—kind of like state governments stepping in because Uncle Sam's still buffering. No fancy companies or dollar amounts mentioned yet, but the race is on to decide who gets to scan your eyeballs first: your local legislature or federal lawmakers still stuck in a 1990s dial-up mindset. Basically, 23 states have said, 'Hey tech, hands off my eyeballs,' because apparently Congress can't decide if Face ID is adding up or getting creepy. States are out here passing laws while Congress tweets memes pretending the scary algorithm apocalypse isn’t their problem yet.
