Ashraf Alkarmi, who climbed the corporate Everest from Vimeo and Meta before joining Dropbox in 2024, proudly co-CEO’d alongside founder Drew Houston starting May. Alkarmi insists 'flexibility and autonomy are the ultimate currency,' which turns out to be more appealing than coerced car trips back to office cubicles. New hires adore this so much that by 2026, 74% joined expressly for remote work freedom, pressing Dropbox applications nearly seven times higher than when people were trapped in the office. Yet, nothing says team bonding like awkward 'customer coffee chats' and AI learning sessions embedded within hack week madness. In-person is still sacred—when you can afford airfare—for trust, respect, and a break from Zoom psychology.
