California’s AI Safety Bill: Robo-Cop or Paper Tiger?

In the land of eternal sunshine and wildfires, California is also cooking up an AI safety bill beefed up enough to maybe impress a tech giant but not scare them off. Advocates tout it as ‘better equipped’ to pass than earlier legislative attempts, with backers pointing to updated frameworks aimed at neither Elon Musk-level paranoia nor Zuckerberg-esque complacency. Lawmakers promise it won’t turn a Silicon Valley party into the next Terminator movie (yet).
