Trump vs. Millions: No Kings or Just Clowning Around?

On Saturday, October 18, more than 2,500 protests will flood all 50 states, organized by No Kings and allies like the ACLU, MoveOn, and Human Rights Campaign, because apparently, nothing says 'equal nation' like coordinated mass events pm the heels of a government shutdown. Republican heavyweights—House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Speaker Mike Johnson, and Steve Scalise—labeled it a 'hate America rally,' proving they missed the memo that peaceful protests aren’t hate-fests unless you’re allergic to free speech. Sen. Roger Marshall worried National Guard might be needed, predictably doubting peace, while Johnson blamed 'the pro-Hamas wing and the Antifa people' for a rally of Americans upset their government can't open a window, let alone the whole building. Oh, and no votes in Congress again: Johnson cancelled a third week—maybe he’s practicing for King Trump’s royal decree. A nonprofit even dropped $1 million for ads promoting the event, showing the protest game is now pretty much the Super Bowl of politics, except with more signs and less halftime. Past efforts include the June 14 military parade protest for Trump's 79th birthday, Tesla Takedown marathons, and Workers over Billionaires rallies, cementing 2025 as the year America tried every protest fad except interpretive dance. And the Trump administration warns protesters to 'stop beclowning themselves,' which ironically may be their best cover charge yet.
