Masked ICE Agents Kidnap Santa Ana with Secret Police Vibes
In June, Santa Ana, California turned into a live-action whodunit as masked, unmarked-van-driving federal agents sprinted through the streets, scaring residents into thinking kidnappings were popping off. Mayor Valerie Amezcua, 58 and understandably frazzled, asked local cops if they could muzzle the faceless ICE brigade—or at least demand license plates. Nope. Complaints to the now-shuttered DHS watchdog? Also nope. Meanwhile, ICE boasts a $10 billion annual budget plus a $7.5 billion recruiting spree throwing $50,000 signing bonuses at recruits with maybe less training than your barista. Former officials say this version of ICE is like a secret police auditioning to star in a dystopian thriller. Sadly, they’re performing live on our streets.
