Ukraine’s Robot Just Dual-Wielded Kalashnikovs, Because Why Not

KEY POINTS

  • Ukraine’s Brave1 incubator created a twin-Kalashnikov drone turret designed for rapid scaling and frontline combat.
  • More than five Ukrainian military units have tested this uncrewed ground vehicle in operational conditions since August 2026.
  • Although remotely operated, the turret requires soldiers nearby to manually reload and rack the guns during prolonged fights.

In a move that sounds like a rejected Bond villain scheme, Ukraine’s Brave1 tech incubator unveiled a killer robot turret armed with two Kalashnikov assault rifles mounted side-by-side on a roving gimbal frame. The project, stealthily cobbled together under six months and already battle-tested against Russian ambush drones, leverages the humble Soviet AK because, as Brave1 put it, it’s the ‘most widely available’ infantry dispenser on the front lines. The robotic duo still needs a human to feed magazines and rack the bolts like a caffeine-deprived barista, but hey, if more than five Kyiv units are testing, maybe future robot soldiers will request coffee breaks too.
