Uber’s latest episode of "Make EVs Sexy for Gig Drivers" offers $4,000 grants in NYC, Cali, Colorado, and Massachusetts to nudge drivers away from gas tanks and into EVs. This sudden generosity comes after the $7,500 federal EV tax credit peaced out in the US, because apparently saving the planet can’t survive on expired government checks alone. Meanwhile, Uber ditched "Uber Green," rebranding to the more straightforward "Uber Electric" — because subtlety clearly isn’t their style. Bonus plot twist: Hertz’s ambitious Tesla and Polestar binge ended in a mood swing, as depreciation made them offload EVs faster than a bad Tinder date. Uber’s still pushing green, running a fancy battery-aware matching tech in 25 countries — if your EV can’t make the trip, Uber won’t make you do it. Also, that $4,000 Uber grant perfectly mirrors the dead federal credit, like a throwback mixtape nobody asked for.
