In a bold move that screams 'the future is now, hire a genius or drive a car,' Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi revealed on a Q3 2025 earnings call that Uber is pivoting from airport shuttles and snack deliveries to "Digital Tasks," where some gigs require PhDs in physics—because teaching AI isn’t something a regular driver can do while dodging traffic. Since October 2025, Uber is piloting this AI training hustle in the US, already test-running in India, paying more than typical driver gigs—presumably to those who don’t mind being replaced by robotaxis soon. Khosrowshahi, speaking at the Concordia Summit, hinted that this might be a profitable growth line, which is great if you know how to annotate security cam videos or whisper sweet scientific formulas to AI models.
