KEY POINTS

  • Samsung has historically disguised its technology products as pieces of art, like the Frame TV that looks like a painting.
  • At CES 2025, Samsung unveiled the Music Frame speaker hidden as a picture frame, adding functional decor to living rooms.
  • For CES 2026, Samsung partnered with designer Erwan Bouroullec to make speakers that openly embrace art, inspired by the music fermata symbol.

Samsung, the company that can’t decide if it sells TVs or modern art pieces, is back again with CES 2026’s Music Studio speakers. Previously hiding speakers behind art frames with the Frame TV and the Music Frame speaker at last year's CES, they’ve now massively upped the game by teaming with designer Erwan Bouroullec to turn speakers themselves into ‘timeless dot concept’ art. Yes, those pesky little circles are now inspiration enough to make gadgets worthy of a gallery, not just a dusty shelf. The Music Studio 5, allegedly invoking the musical fermata symbol—the note pause, aka the technical ‘please wait’ sign—promises to hold your attention and your silence. Finally, a speaker that understands the value of dramatic pause as well as bad dad jokes.
