US Cuts Space Cash; Spain Says 'Beam Us In!'

After Trump's budget cuts "gutted funding for one of the world’s largest astronomy projects," Spain stepped in with a $470 million rescue plan, offering both cash and a new home on La Palma. Meanwhile, the US apparently decided to take a backseat as Europe "is stepping in to pick up the slack" on climate, aid, and scientific investments. So apparently when it comes to star-gazing and serious science, the US is more about star-losing. Spain to NASA: 'Houston, we got your money!'
