Trump Threatens To 'Knock Down' Iran Again Like Annoying Arcade Machine

KEY POINTS

  • On Monday at Mar-a-Lago, President Trump warned of very powerful consequences if Iran rebuilds missile or nuclear programs.
  • Trump held a briefing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss renewed military action against Iran.
  • US forces previously struck Iranian nuclear sites in June, and Trump suggested any new buildup would face immediate eradication.

On Monday at Mar-a-Lago, President Trump—channeling a disappointed arcade game junkie—warned Iran that if Tehran rebuilds its missile or nuclear programs, the US will 'knock them down' again. Trump’s briefing with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu included a repeat performance of his favorite threat: 'We’ll knock the hell out of them,' preferably at sites different from the ones already obliterated in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan airstrikes last June. When reporters pushed if the US would back Israeli strikes, Trump said, 'Yes, absolutely,' and maybe even 'immediately' for nukes—and 'possibly different sites' replacing the old 'obliterated' ones. Israeli officials flagged an Iranian missile drill this month as possibly prepping a strike on Israel—a suspicion Trump describes with all the certainty of a weather forecast saying 'maybe more powerful than last time.'
