Trump’s Rare Earth Hoard: Greenland, Kazakhstan & China’s Chokehold

President Trump's second-term grand strategy might as well be called 'Operation: Hoard All The Shiny Rocks.' From signing billion-dollar rare earth startup deals just 72 hours before cozying up to Xi Jinping, to pawning off minerals-deals with Kazakhstan, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, and even hosting mineral-rich Central Asian execs at the White House, Trump’s globe-trotting treasure hunt is real. With $1.2 billion pumped into rare earths startups, plus the U.S. government gobbling up the only American rare earth mine this year for good measure, he’s doubling down on minerals to build everything from fighter jets to wind turbines. And yes, Greenland? Not just a chilly fantasy vacation but a prized mineral jackpot. China controls eight out of nine critical minerals dominating global supply chains; Trump’s trying hard to bust this monopoly while Putin and the EU join the mineral power play. As Gracelin Baskaran so eloquently puts it: 'Minerals are the new currency of foreign policy,' which basically means future wars may feature less guns, more magnets.
