Trump’s Tariff Tantrum: Reagan, Canada, and a 10% Spite Tax

In a trade soap opera worthy of a prime-time reality show, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social a blistering 10% tariff hike on Canada after spotting a dang ad during the World Series starring none other than Ronald Reagan. Apparently, Reagan — straight outta 1987 — warned against tariffs in Ontario’s anti-tariff ad, which triggered Trump to call the ad 'fraudulent' and end trade talks faster than you can say 'free and fair trade.' Ontario Premier Doug Ford, probably wishing for quieter politics, paused the ad. Meanwhile, US steel faces a 50% tariff, Canada’s throwing back retaliations, and the Supreme Court will decide if Trump owes Americans up to $1 trillion. The White House, of course, ghosted Business Insider on comments faster than a Canadian maple leaf in a trade war storm.
