Trump DOJ’s Civil Rights Cure: Quit, Dismiss, Repeat!

The Trump administration turned the Department of Justice's civil rights unit into a ghost town, halting lawsuits against Louisiana and South Carolina for imprisoning people past release dates and locking up the mentally ill like bad Tinder dates stuck on them. DOJ lawyer exodus was so bad, only 25 staff remained from 90. Assistant AG Harmeet Dhillon famously called consent decrees 'unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats,' preferring out-of-court cover-ups instead. As civil rights attorney Anya Bidwell laments, 'This administration has been very aggressive in rolling back any kind of civil rights reforms or advancements.'
