OpenAI: Big Tech's Newest 'Bazooka' Target with Gigawatt Problems

In a corporate Hunger Games, OpenAIâbacked by Thrive Capital since 2011 and founder Josh Kushnerâis playing David vs. Goliaths like Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia, who apparently have bazookas aimed instead of hugs. At a Berlin summit, CEO Sam Altman bragged about 800 million weekly ChatGPT users now baiting apps inside their AI kingdom. Meanwhile, OpenAI just signed deals for 16 gigawatts of chip power with AMD and Nvidia (because regular CPUs werenât enough), plus a $100 billion Nvidia investment that makes even Elon Musk's SpaceX blush. Theyâre even designing their own AI chip with Broadcom for 2026 â ground zero for the next Big Tech turf war. Vince Hankes of Thrive says itâs a fight for the 'Mag Seven' throne (Apple + Microsoft + Amazon + Alphabet + Meta + Tesla + Nvidia), and you better believe no competitor wants to invite another throne crusher. Our ecosystem clearly 'breathes' on this dramaâbut oxygen is running low.
