KEY POINTS
- •Dutch regulator RDW approved Tesla’s Full-Self Driving Supervised after over a year and a half of testing.
- •This approval makes the Netherlands the first European country to authorize Tesla’s FSD use on public roads.
- •Tesla’s European headquarters is in Amsterdam, making the country a fitting launchpad for the technology.
After 18 long months of staring at code and roads, Dutch regulators RDW finally gave Tesla's Full-Self Driving Supervised the thumbs-up, making the Netherlands the EU's first guinea pig for lukewarm driverless dreams. Tesla’s EU HQ sits comfortably in Amsterdam, so naturally they rolled out the robot chauffeur on Rotterdam or wherever. The RDW claims proper use of these systems 'supports the driver'—which is Dutch for 'the driver does basically nothing but hope for the best.' Soon other European countries might join the party, giving us all more chances to surrender our driving dignity to machines made by Elon’s marketing machine.
