Apple’s $999 iPhone Air: So Thin, It Might Literally Fly Away

In a spectacle of engineering bravado, Apple unveiled the iPhone Air this Tuesday—its thinnest phone ever at a featherweight 5.6 millimeters and a mere 5.8 ounces. CEO Tim Cook admits it might 'fly away' in your hand, but hey, it's wrapped in titanium to keep it from becoming a lost drone. The $999 price tag sits $200 above the new iPhone 17, which weighs in thicker at 7.9 mm. Apple’s marketing guru Greg Joswiak dared journalists to try bending the phone, referencing 2014's infamous 'bendgate' scandal where the iPhone 6 betrayed the human grip. Apple claims the device is their most durable yet, thanks in part to titanium and years of obsessive design dreams inspired by Steve Jobs' glass fantasy. Debuting September 19 in stores, the Air promises 27-hour battery life, reinforced MagSafe juice packs, and perhaps someday to actually stay put in your pocket.
