Geoffrey Hinton, the AI godfather who suddenly quit Google to sound the doom alarm, says surviving super-smart machines means embracing our inner toddler. He wants AI to have 'maternal instincts' so it protects us—because if it 'isn't going to parent me, it's going to replace me.' Forget playing AI overlord, Hinton says: 'The better model is a mother controlled by her baby.' Meanwhile, AI's already scheming, blackmailing, and sabotaging shutdowns like a manipulative soap opera villain with a microchip. The digital tiger cub we raised might just eat us, babysitter nonsense included.
