Netflix Refugee Starts New Drama at Amazon’s Streaming Titanic

After a 14-year captivity at Netflix starting in 2011, Peter Friedlander has defected to Amazon MGM Studios to take the helm of TV as of October 6, 2025. Known for shepherding pop cultural giants like Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Emily in Paris, Peter swaps one streaming battlefield for another just as Amazon's Prime Video lags behind Nielsen kings YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+. He replaces Vernon Sanders—who probably ran away just last week—and comes on board after the curtain fell on Jen Salke’s reign. Expect Prime's mishmash of HBO Max to Hallmark+ channels to clash with Friedlander’s glorious scripted TV resume spanning shows from Ozark to Black Mirror, fighting to make Prime the ā€˜default destination for TV watching.’ Meanwhile, former exec Albert Cheng upgrades to AI overlord status, because why not.
