Joe Gebbia, Airbnb cofounder turned Trump-appointed US chief design officer, vows to overhaul government sites to match 'the Apple Store' experience. With his new gig created by an executive order titled 'America by Design,' Gebbia says it's 'time to fill digital potholes' and insists, 'There's no reason why our government can't be a standard for great design.' The White House DOGE office project and a July 4, 2026 deadline suggest a marathon of redesigns ahead, but hey, even the slowest government “front door” could use a little Airbnb magic, right?
