Ambience Healthcare just dropped a casual $243 million funding bomb on the tech party, shooting its valuation straight to $1.25 billion. In their own words, they announced this 'new funding' on Tuesday, which basically means someone out there believes in them enough to toss in nearly a quarter of a billion dollars. Which begs the question: Is Ambience about to cure diseases or their investors' boredom? Either way, a billion-dollar backing means the word 'startup' now officially includes doing stuff with a lot of cash and a bit of hope.
