Come November 1, 42 million Americans will find their SNAP benefits abruptly canceled - apparently because Trump decided heâs the Hunger Games sponsor nobody asked for. Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, say the administration is weaponizing hunger for political chess, accusing them of freezing $6 billion in contingency funds while paying WIC from other pots. Twenty-five states plus D.C. filed suit against the USDA, whose shutdown funding plan vanished like Bigfoot's memoirs from their website. Back in 2018-19, Trump happily used contingency funds to keep SNAP afloat, but this term? Radio silence. Meanwhile, OMB blames Democrats for shutdown knowing SNAP would hit rock bottom, basically inviting a food fight with starving children as the messengers.
