Trump’s Union Station Power Grab: CEO Fired, Chaos Hired

On a sizzling August day, the US transportation department announced plans to wrest back control of Washington DC's Union Station — the grand terminal that now feels like Trump's playpen. In March, Trump pushed out Stephen Gardner, CEO of Amtrak, the very company running Hall of Trains, replacing him presumably with 'somebody I like'—which sounds ominously like a 'Do you wanna build a train?' scenario but with boardroom drama. Meanwhile, amid Union Station drama, reporters and commuters alike seem to ask: Oh, I'm sorry, did I miss the part where a train CEO is a Trump-approved loyalist instead of a train guru? So much for smooth railroad transitions!
