KPMG’s 450K Sq.Ft NYC HQ: Employee Feedback or Round Table Cult?

KEY POINTS

  • KPMG has opened a new 450,000-square-foot office in Manhattan to encourage employees to return to work.
  • Employee feedback influenced the design, with many expressing a preference for round tables.
  • CEO Tim Walsh emphasized that this new headquarters represents a strong recommitment to KPMG's presence in New York.

KPMG just dropped a skyscraper-sized love letter to New York: a 450,000 sq. ft office in Hudson Yards, designed after 5 years of input from over 5,000 NYC employees who apparently prefer round tables to corner desks — because nothing says power like sitting in a circle. CEO Tim Walsh flexed this new office as a 'strong recommitment' to NYC, as if a multi-floor, abacus-themed lighting installation and lobby sprinklings of Park Avenue radiator vibes weren't enough. Opened November 5, the space includes The Ignition Lab where clients solve existential crises using reconfigurable furniture. They track attendance with badge swipes, confirming if your 'two days a week' return is real or just a ghost commute.
