Circus King’s $27M Venetian Fantasy: Clown House Mode

John Ringling, the circus titan behind elephants and flying trapeze artists, didn’t just entertain towns—he built a 36,000-square-foot Venetian palace called Ca' d'Zan in Sarasota, Florida, for a cool $27 million today. According to the article, the mansion had '400 pieces from Vanderbilt estates' and a full room from the Astor House. Ringling called it his winter home until he died in 1936 with only '$311 ($7,244 today) in his bank account,' proving even circus kings can go from high-wire wealth to financial belly flop.
