Snail Eyes and Jelly Ice: Shroud of Turin Nerdathon 2024
In what might be the most enthusiastically bizarre science squad meetup of 2024, researchers rolled out a 3D reconstruction of the Shroud of Turin – yes, THAT ancient religious cloth now geekier than your grandma’s puzzles. Meanwhile, 'jelly ice,' which sounds like a trendy vegan dessert but is actually a cool new material, is making waves, presumably chilling out physics labs everywhere. Not to be outdone, a regeneration study gave snail eyes a comeback tour that Hollywood wishes it had – apparently snails will be the true MVPs of ocular regrowth although their name recognition is slimier. From sacred relics to slippery sea creatures, 2024’s science parade welcomed everyone, no neuroscientist left behind!
