Reading Rainbow Returns to Fight Billion-Dollar Congress Cuts with Celebs

Reading Rainbow, the PBS hero that once saved kids from summer learning loss thanks to Buffalo Toronto Public Media’s 1983 genius, rides again two months after Congress chopped $1.1 billion from its public media lifeline like it was trimming bad TV habits. Now starring Mychal Threets, or Mychal the Librarian (TikTok’s library superstar who puts the 'tab' into 'bookmark'), and joined by a celeb squad featuring Chrissy Teigen, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Gabrielle Union, this four-episode reboot drops Saturdays at 7am PST on KidZuko—because nothing says literacy like weekend preschool channel slots. Throwback star LeVar Burton, peacemaker between Roots and reading, watches from the sidelines as 670,000 weekly viewers (and 10 million students in school) get their synthed-up, Peabody-and-26-Emmy-awarded fix once more.
