Prologis: Warehouses Go Power Hungry, Now Data Center Gods
If you thought Prologis just owned a casual 1.3 billion square feet of warehouses spread over 5,500 buildings worldwide, think again. By 2025, they plan to toss $8 billion at building data centers on 20 prime sites ā probably to keep up with Nvidia and OpenAI's data-devouring machines, who just pledged a casual $100 billion to build their own 10-gigawatt AI mosh pit. Susan Uthayakumar, Chief Energy and Sustainability Overlord, boasted about their stockpile of 1.1 gigawatts power (with 300 megawatts baking in the oven) and visions of 10 gigawatts in a decadeās time, making them the USās second largest on-site power generator. They've even engineered microgrids, because apparently skipping utility waiting lines is the new flex. In short: Prologis somehow turned warehouses into power plants for AIās electric thirst, while we mere mortals fumble to pay the next rising electricity bill.
