Democrats’ Old Boys Club Meets Its Progressive Avengers

Big-city Democratic mayors thinking they run the show are getting the ultimate wake-up call from a vibrant new wave of progressive challengers. Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist, "sparked a political earthquake" in NYC with his grassroots campaign on affordability. Minneapolis saw State Sen. Omar Fateh, another young firebrand, gain the local party’s endorsement, breaking an 80-year-old tradition. Over in Seattle and Albuquerque, challengers Katie Wilson and Alex Uballez are screaming louder than the corporate cronies, calling out homelessness mismanagement and skyrocketing costs. As Uballez puts it, 'People don’t feel their needs represented and they want leaders who will work as hard as they do to make things better.' Can the Democratic dinosaur adapt, or is this just the pre-party extinction rumble?
