Pritzker vs. ICE: No Tear Gas on Trick-Or-Treaters, Pls

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker slid into DHS Sec. Kristi Noem's DMs (plus ICE boss Todd Lyons and Border Patrol head Rodney S. Scott) with a polite yet desperate plea this Wednesday: no federal immigration raids during Halloween weekend in Chicago. After ICE turned a kids' parade in Old Irving Park into something resembling a post-apocalyptic nightmare by allegedly dropping tear gas, Pritzker insisted, 'No child should be forced to inhale tear gas while trick or treating in their own neighborhood.' Meanwhile, ICE’s Commander Gregory Bovino got a nice legal break from the 7th Circuit Court on the same day — no more daily report-ins to Judge Sara Ellis, who lamented shattered childhoods faster than you can say 'BOO.' DHS and ICE played Monday morning quarterback radio silence when Axios tried to get comments Thursday.
