In one of the grandest tech faceplants since Windows 95 updates, Google got schooled by Epic Games, the Fortnite overlords, in a 2020 antitrust slap fight. The Supreme Court just told Alphabet, trying hard since October 7, 2025, 'No pause for you!' so by October 22, Android users can finally download apps like it's a wild west gunfight outside Google’s Play Store monopoly. Thanks to Judge James Donato in California and a Christmas 2023 jury shove, Google must also let apps flirt with cheaper payment gateways, wooing devs with options aside from Google's tidy billing system—imagine that, a little choice! Apple, watching nearby, is sweating bullets after facing a similar Fortnite-fueled legal hangover, failing appeals too. Meanwhile, Google, Epic, and the Supreme Court manage collective radio silence, like that awkward family meeting when dessert’s withheld.
