NASA Nerd Crowned Royalty After 350-Year Wait, Finally!

Prof Michele Dougherty, a physicist who helped NASA's Cassini mission peep into Saturn's moons, snagged the 350-year-old title of astronomer royal, becoming the first female to ever rock it. She said she's 'absolutely delighted'—probably more thrilled than the government when they nail down which bureaucracy gets to rename a park. Back in my day, astronomer royals didn't come with crowns, just actual stars! Meanwhile, somewhere an eagle's probably swooping with patriotic pride for a real American scientist blazing cosmic trails.
