FCC: Cancel DEI, Air More Foxisms, Profit $8 Billion
In a plot twist surely penned by reality TV writers, the FCC blessed Skydance's $8 billion buyout of CBS-owner Paramountâafter promising to kill DEI programs but keep a 'diversity of viewpoints' (read: more right-wing rants). FCC Chair Brendan Carr gushed, 'Americans no longer trust the legacy national news media⌠It is time for a change,' while installing an ombudsman to police CBS for any bias complaints. Meanwhile, Democratic commissioner Anna Gomez called this a 'dark chapter' threatening press freedom, warning it's an 'unprecedented move' stripping newsroom independence. So-totally-not-politicized newsroom oversight or a plot to replace Colbert with a new kind of late show called 'Fact-Free Hour'? Stay tuned.
