Excel Gets AI Agent, Financial Analysts Quietly Hand Over Souls

In a shocking turn of events, OpenAI just led a $14 million funding round for Endex, the first AI agent tool designed to live rent-free inside Microsoft Excel. Endex's CEO Tarun Amasa promised the AI won't just 'search results' but deliver 'structured thinking and deep analysis,' aiming to create 'teams of digital analysts' who never complain about overtime. Powered by OpenAI's reasoning models, Endex promises to 'change how financial analysts do work,' potentially saving them from spreadsheet-induced cardiac events. Microsoft, who simultaneously invests billions in OpenAI and calls it a competitor, has yet to RSVP for this Excel AI party.
