The day before GPT-5 dropped, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman double-timed a Slack announcement promising a 'special one-time award' to select tech teams, including engineering and safety. He confessed, 'We very much intend to keep increasing comp as we keep doing better and better,' but hey, transparency first! So, while the bots get smarter by the hour, humans at OpenAI get a little extra pocket change to keep those brains running—or at least to afford more coffee.
