Hochul Endorses Mamdani: NYCâs Progressive Vs. Cuomo-Trump Soap Opera
On Sunday, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul threw her political weight behind Zohran Mamdani, a progressive assemblyman whom some establishment Democrats apparently treat like he's the kid who ate their lunch money. In a New York Times op-ed, Hochul praised conversations with Mamdani (read: 'some spectacle levels of disagreement') but likes his visions of safe neighborhoods, affordable rents, and an NYPD with functioning leadership. She also stressed fighting antisemitism and making NYC a business cash magnet amid 'abhorrent policies from Washington'âa subtle swipe at Trump, who's backing Andrew Cuomo, the twice-fired ex-governor now moonlighting as an independent mayoral contender. Mamdaniâs grateful, promising to keep putting money back in New Yorkers' wallets while their subway drama unfolds like a season of The Sopranos.
