On Oct. 18, at Camp Pendletonâs 250th Marine Corps anniversary, Vice President JD Vanceâs security detail got a face full of premature artillery shrapnelâbecause nothing says 'protection' like artillery randomly embracing your squad. While California Gov. Gavin Newsom aptly called the fireworks 'reckless,' the CHP just watched their vehicle get a shrapnel facelift during a live-fire exercise suspended over I-5 freeway traffic. About 35 protesters held a scenic viewpoint outside the base, likely wondering if âSea to Shoreâ meant random artillery greeting freeway cops. Meanwhile, White House was busy filming this op for a Nov. 9 special titled 'How To Defensive Driving 101: Artillery Edition.' No injuries, just broken vehicles and egos.
