In what sounds like the punchline to a tragic joke, Denorris Howell died in his pitch-black Parchman prison cell after officials revealed an unexpected flashlight game gone horribly wrong: cell keys were shared like hot concert tickets, and then, in a plot twist no one asked for, the lights went off. Apparently, Parchmanâs idea of 'security protocol' involves leaving inmates in darkness, making it harder to tell whoâs who and whatâs happening â which in Howellâs case, led straight to a fatal blackout. Because nothing says efficiency like swapping cells and switching off the electricity.
