Rinsch, clad in a somber three-piece, insisted he only spent $500,000 of the last $11 million on actual editing. The rest was 'his to keep,' like a cosmic tip for a stalled production crew of 100. If convicted in Manhattan federal court, Mr. Franchise Dreams is looking at up to 90 years—and Netflix got to keep his unfinished footage and $8.8 million back.
