Nestlé CEO Brewed Romance, Got Instant Grounds Fired

On a surprise Monday morning fresher than a Nespresso shot, NestlĂ© immediately fired Laurent Freixe, their CEO of only a year, for an 'undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate'—making 40 years of service end faster than a coffee break. NestlĂ©'s chair Paul Bulcke and director Pablo Isla took charge of the investigation, upholding company values with the zeal of baristas guarding their espresso machines. Freixe was replaced by Philipp Navratil, who went from internal auditor in 2001 to Nespresso CEO in July 2024, after brewing strategies from Central America to Mexico. Meanwhile, NestlĂ© grapples with sluggish vitamin sales and preps to sell Perrier—so at least their bottled water division isn’t steaming hot with controversy yet.
