Microsoft's Building 34 Turns Into Twitch HQ for Protest Drama
In a corporate soap opera worthy of a tech CEO’s nightmare, Microsoft fired star protestors Riki Fameli and Anna Hattle after they, plus five colleagues (including ex-Microsoft and ex-Google staffers), livestreamed a sit-in siege in Brad Smith’s office at Building 34 on an unspecified, but evidently stressful, Wednesday. The lockdown involved Twitch streaming, office invading, paint-splattering, and ultimatums to cut ties with Israel. Brad Smith, Microsoft’s vice chair and president, after reclaiming his desk like a true executive hero, hosted a YouTube press event pledging human rights vigils, following a Guardian exposé on Azure spying — talk about airing dirty laundry post office invasion!
