Mark Zuckerberg dropped jaws (and probably a few tens of billions) at a White House dinner on Sept 4, casually pledging Meta would invest 'something like... at least $600 billion through 2028' in U.S. data centers, infrastructure, and even people-wrangling. Enter Susan Li, incoming CFO, stage left, tasked with diplomatically translating visionary-speak into bean-counter math at a Goldman Sachs confab Tuesday in San Francisco. She patiently explained that 'the total envelope' includes everything from buzzing servers to company headcount, all wrapped in a foggy crystal ball prediction. Investors chuckled knowing developers build castles in the sky, while CFOs shovel the dirt.
