ProPublica’s $9K Scholarship: Future Scooby-Doo Investigators Unite!

ProPublica’s Emerging Reporters Program is handing out $9,000 stipends along with VIP passes to the NICAR journalism conference like it’s a limited Netflix drop. They carefully curate students from California to Florida, including Annabelle Ink from sunny Oahu who’s creatively directing campus protests, and Gabriel Velasquez Neira, the GPA-overachiever tracking hurricanes and DNC drama in Florida. Then there's Kahlie Wray, a global dilettante who swapped pumpkin patches for Czech churches, and Lee Ann Anderson who’s turning federal immigration policy into a true crime narrative syndicated 60 times because why not? Safa Wahidi rounds it out by mixing political science with gourmet food justice, proving investigative journalism pairs well with snacks. Basically, we’re funding Tomorrow’s Sherlocks to squash power abuses with a side of grant-money glory.
