USGS Calls July’s Mega 8.8 Quake A Shaky Starter Pack

In a plot twist worthy of an overly dramatic soap opera, the US Geological Survey (USGS) described a recent tremor as merely an 'aftershock' from a whopping magnitude 8.8 quake that slammed the Earth back in July. Because apparently, when you throw down an earth-shattering 8.8, you get to have aftershocks that sneak back like clingy exes months later. The USGS, our official earthquake buzzkill, reminds us that even Mother Nature can’t resist a sequel. It’s like the world’s worst party trick — just when you think the shaking stopped, it’s 8.8 Part Two: The Unwanted Return.
