Kirk’s funeral is shaping up to be less ‘private goodbye’ and more ‘gladiator-level fandom frenzy’ as tens of thousands of his supporters prepare to crowd a stadium in Glendale, Arizona. President Trump, taking time out of his busy schedule of golf and tweets, will bless the mic with remarks, presumably trying to sound sober and solemn simultaneously. Not to be outshined, several top White House officials will also chime in, turning what could be a quiet farewell into a full political pep rally. Because nothing says ‘rest in peace’ like packing a sporting stadium with the hopes of a mid-pandemic crowd, am I right?
